Structural cast glass towers situated in the path of the Råbjerg Mile sand dune
The Wandering Dune is a captivating natural phenomenon that has journeyed across the landscape for centuries, originating from the ocean 300 years ago and destined to return in another 300 years. Rather than futilely attempting to preserve this inherently self destructive entity, my proposal seeks to honor the passage of time and embrace the dune’s transient nature. By narrating the story of its prominence, the project aims to showcase the vastness and scale of the Wandering Dune, allowing future generations to appreciate its ephemeral beauty and the profound lessons it offers on the impermanence of all things.
The path of the Råbjerg Mile wandering dune
Towers are built in front of the dune with 125m spacing
serving the function as a bespoke measuring tool and ceremonial offering
As the dune advances, the 40 meter tall towers are situated in its path. The towers are swallowed one by one, almost as a sort of offering.
The first stage, before the dune has reached the tower.
The second stage is happening while the dune has partly or entirely engulfed the tower. The tower is now transformed from an ethereal tower to a dark well.
The third stage is after the dune has traveled over the tower. It has left marks all the way at the top of the 40- meter tall structures.
